More Ways to Save
These are some other great ways to save money,
or earn cash back, on your everyday spending. All of these items and services, as well as
any advertising you see on this site,
are products that I currently use and can recommend.
- The first one's a biggie. The American Express "Blue Cash" card will pay you
5% back on groceries and gas, and 1.5% on everything else, after you spend $6500 in a year.
Before the $6500 threshold, you get 1% on groceries and gas, and .5% on all other purchases.
If you're like us, we make it past the threshold in 3-4 months, then the rest of the year we
collect these nice cashback rates. We will get $500-600 this year. AND, you can use it at Costco!
- While you're getting all that cash back for your groceries, why not get some money for
college as well? When you register with Upromise and register one or more debit, credit, or store loyalty cards, you will earn a percent of participating purchases to use toward college. This is just FREE money!
- Here's another nice cash back site. If you shop online, start at Mr. Rebates and you will get a percent of your purchase back in cash. Some of the percents are pretty large (8% at PetCo; 12% at Shoes.com, etc.) Check it out!
- The Entertainment Book has coupons for EVERYTHING! I paid $20 for mine & it has four $5 coupons to my local grocery store,
so it was essentially free. Now we use it to get free popcorn at the movies, 2-for-1 meals, and discounted haircuts, oil changes, etc.
- We switched to internet phone about a year ago. The overall quality is just fine and the savings tremendous. We pay just $200 per YEAR. That's it! Long distance anywhere in the US is included. VOIP (below) is the company we use:
- If you have pets, this is a good money-saver for veterinary prescriptions. I get my dog's heartworm/flea medicine from them at a good savings over what my vet charges. Also, if you go through Mr. Rebates (above) you get 10% cash back!
